Congratulations Adro on your run and your graduation!

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:28 pm by Luis

Adro set himself a goal  not too long ago and it was to be able to run 1 kilometre in 4 minutes. This meant that he had to get his running speed to 12 km/hr for that 4 minutes. You may remember that when he left The Biggest Loser house to train at home he couldn't even run for 4 minutes without stopping. And by the time he reached the finale he was able to average 9km/hr for 10km.

Well yesterday I recieved a text message from him telling me he'd done it. You could imagine how excited he must have been too. After so many years of being unfit, to now be described as 'athletic' must be a real buzz!

But the attainment of this goal coincided with the achievement of a much bigger goal. Yesterday Adro graduated from his Certificate IV in Fitness course which means he is now a qualified personal trainer!

So Adro, well done on the run and well done on the graduation!

Prenatal Yoga: Doulas and Husband’s Support for an Easier Labor

Posted in Fit by Sara at 7:59 pm by Luis

As I stated in my previous two blogs the three factors that made my natural labor completely do-able were the yoga breath, visualization, and my husband and doulas support.  For my second labor I had two doulas.  I met them on the day I gave birth.  They were both very supportive, kind, and had different techniques that worked well together.  For example, at one point I was sitting on a birthing ball.  One doula pressed firmly on my low back, while the other would coach me with encouragement.  She’d say, “great job, keep the focus on your breath”.  My husband was great too.  He was seated, facing me and leaned foward.  I had my arms on his shoulders and he looked into my eyes and continued with words of encouragement.  The support gave me the strength and belief that I could deliver my baby natural.  It was very powerful!
